The Eau Claire Express baseball organization is seeking current college students pursuing a career in the sporting industry for summer internships.

The Express, an affiliate of the Northwoods League, offer interns the opportunity to work hands-on with the team in an exciting, fast paced environment. In addition to learning about daily operations, including customer relations, communication and ticket and apparel sales, our interns are given the opportunity to specialize in their field of study. The Express offer internship positions in marketing, stadium operations, media relations, video production and photography.

The Express season is a fun-filled 68-game schedule that includes 34 home games at Carson Park, a league all-star game and possible home playoff games. The paid internship will begin in early May and run until the middle of August, depending on the playoff situation. Self-motivation, strong communication skills, an energetic attitude and the ability to work well under pressure are a must.

Internship Opportunities at the Eau Claire Express

Marketing Interns

Marketing interns will be in charge of coordinating game promotions with the presenting sponsor for at least eight home dates throughout the course of the season. The intern will be responsible for every aspect of the sponsor's evening, from distributing the giveaway items to setting up banners and other stadium signage. Marketing interns will assist with running on-field promotions held nightly at the ballpark. Other duties may include oversight of the Glitnir Ticketing System, creating of on-field promotions, coordination of player and mascot appearances, managing of Trax Kids Club, stadium signage, setup of Little League outings at the ballpark, apparel control, script writing and fan relations. Interns will also gain experience with group sales, distribution of Express literature, ticket sales, and customer relations in the Express office. Positions filled for 2010

Stadium Operations Intern

The Stadium Operations Intern will assist Express front office staff with staffing of part-time workers at Carson Park. Duties include scheduling of all staff, delegating tasks and overseeing the part-time workers for all baseball games held at Carson Park. Additional staff related duties include hiring, dealing with employee concerns and maintaining databases of employee payroll, discipline and requested time off. This intern will be responsible for opening the park and preparing the stadium for each Express home game. The Stadium Operations intern will oversee inventory and keep sales records of Express apparel and will play a role in re-ordering items. Other duties include group sales, distribution of Express literature and ticket sales at the Express office. Position filled for 2010

Food and Beverage Intern

The Food and Beverage Intern will play a part in ordering and inventory control of food, beverage and supplies needed for the Express concession stand and satellite areas. The intern will oversee all part-time workers in the concession stand, which includes delegating tasks, discipline, and ensuring that high levels of efficiency and customer service are maintained. Other duties include receiving all deliveries along with keeping records of all orders. The intern will oversee the setup and cleanup of the concession area for each Express home game. The Food and Beverage Intern may also gain experience in group sales, distribution of Express literature and ticket sales at the Express office. Position filled for 2010

Media Relations Intern

The Media Relations Intern will be in charge of keeping and disseminating all official statistics at Express home games. The Media Relations intern will gain experience in updating and running the message display center. This intern will be responsible for daily updates to the Express website, as well as writing press releases for the media and stories for publication on the web throughout the season. The Media Relations intern will make updates to the Express game-day program, including featured stories, rosters and league, team and individual statistics. Other duties include conducting weekly interviews with players or coaches for publication on the website, group sales, distribution of Express literature and ticket sales at the Express office. Knowledge of baseball rules and baseball scoring software is preferred but not necessarily required. Position filled for 2010

Video Production Intern

The Video Production Intern will assist the Video Producer for all live broadcasting of Express home games on the internet. Main duties include remote camera operations, video and audio broadcast productions, and archiving of all games. This intern will also be able to produce web content for our official website including player interviews, promotional spots and highlight packages. Other duties include creating and updating between-inning material for game broadcasts, group sales, distribution of Express literature and ticket sales at the Express office. Photography Intern

The Photography Intern will be in charge of creating a photographic history of the season at Carson Park. Action photos of each player will need to be taken, along with a team photo near the end of the season. The intern will be responsible for taking photos for all game-day sponsors, which includes their giveaway, first pitch participant and any banners that the sponsor has hung at the stadium. The intern will take all pictures for player trading cards and will work with the Media Relations intern on production of the cards. Near the end of the season, this intern will put together a picture slideshow with highlights from the season that is used for distribution to Express staff and Host Families. Other duties include taking and developing photos of each Host Family with their player(s), photography for use in Express marketing materials and uploading of photos onto the Express website.
